Women on Water

Our Women on Water Group (WoW) meet regularly to combine sail coaching with social activities. The group is a very friendly and informal group of female club members - primarily sailors - but we also welcome paddle boarders and kayakers. We meet once a month from February to November for a day of fun and instruction on the water.
Important: To join WoW, you must be able to helm a dinghy independently. WoW is designed for women who have completed RYA Level 2 training or can sail confidently to the same standard. We aim to be inclusive and welcome female sailors with additional needs. Please contact us to discuss whether your requirements can be accommodated.
Membership to the group is only £30 per year and can be purchased through your membership account. Please email the membership secretary to request to join WoW. Once your WoW membership option is added to your account portal, you will receive an invoice for the WoW fee. After we receive your payment, we will send you an invite link to the WoW WhatsApp group, where we communicate and organise all our sessions. There is currently no additional charge for the sessions.
Most members have their own boats; however, club boats are available to use at no extra charge
VISION
Our vision is to create an inclusive, skill-building, and supportive community where women with a foundation in sailing come together to enjoy the water, build confidence, and support each other’s progress. In a friendly and relaxed setting, we provide a space for members to explore their capabilities—whether learning to helm, refining crewing skills, or mastering rigging.
With instructor-led sessions and peer learning, we help members develop their skills both on and off the water, encouraging teamwork and sharing tips that strengthen bonds and make each session more than just time on the water. In this welcoming community, every woman knows she has a place where she can learn and try new things at her own pace. Together, we’re dedicated to making each sailing experience positive, helping confidence grow and friendships flourish.
We aim to be ready to go on the water at 10am and are usually finished by 4pm, all dependent on the weather.
Joining the group is a great way to get on the water with a group of like-minded people and get instruction / pointers as required.
This really helps encourage members to grow in sailing confidence and improve their sailing ability, whatever their level.
