Can you teach me to sail?

If you're thinking of learning how to sail a dinghy, here are the courses we offer. From time to time we run Open Days, when you can go out in a dinghy with an experienced sailor but we are happy to receive enquiries throughout the year.

 

RYA Level 1 Dinghy Sailing

RYA Level 2 Dinghy Sailing

Minimum 2 days

Minimum 2 days if RYA Level 1 is held

Course content

Short introduction to dinghy sailing for novices

Rigging, launching & recovery, all the essential points of sailing, basic rules

Assumed knowledge after course

A basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background

The successful sailor will be

  • safety conscious,
  • have a basic knowledge of sailing,
  • able to sail without an instructor in light winds
  • able to recover a capsized boat

  • Note that all courses are based on RYA inland syllabuses: a tidal conversion is required to sail in tidal conditions
