The new kitchen and wet-room heating will be operating from this weekend! These are great additions to the club facilities. We hope you will enjoy using them. There is still some minor finishing up work to be done and it will take time to adjust what is stored and where, but please give do us feedback.
Remember that it is our kitchen, for use by members, but, because the club must comply with food safety regulations, there are new procedures to follow. Members on kitchen duty will need to fill in a logsheet to confirm everything is working and that they are in good health. Those on kitchen duty will take full control of the kitchen for the day. We don't want too many cooks and we certainly don't want sailors with wet feet in the kitchen! There is a self service teabar area for members to use which does not require kitchen access.
At some point we will organise an official opening with a meal to show off what can be done, but for the time being please leave the running of the kitchen to those on duty.
There is a small team of volunteers who will manage the way the kitchen is operated, but the club is encouraging members to view the Food Safety DVD ( viewable in the dry-room or on-line athttp://www.sfbbtraining.co.uk/) so that everyone understands the procedures. If you would like to join the food safety team or just get more involved in the kitchen, then please contact any member of the food safety team.
